Blust

Blust Family – August 2011

The Blusts are veteran missionaries to the people of the Philippines, where about 80% of the population profess Roman Catholicism.  Jeffrey and Perla are faithful to their calling, and one thing is very apparent when you read their newsletters from the field:  souls are being saved!

In recent newsletters, Bro. Blust talks about some of the church’s activities.  He says that church members have been taught professionalism (with an emphasis on ambassadorship/royal priesthood), conduct (with an emphasis on fruits of the Spirit), modest dress (with an emphasis on dressing up, not down), and punctuality.  Bro. Blust says this causes unbelievers to see genuineness in the believers’ lives, and results in a greater response from them.

Bro. Blust also says that when the church passes out Gospel tracts, many religious groups pass out envelopes expecting donations for whatever reason.  Whenever people offer money, the church members reject it and tell people the Gospel is free.  Bro. Blust reports that many religious groups have entertainment programs and when the Blusts invite unbelievers to church services, people ask how much is the admission or entrance fee.  Pray that the Lord’s churches remain obedient to the Great Commission, rejecting religion’s methodology.

Additional Prayer and Praise Items:

  1. Praise for those who have been saved in recent months.  Pray for these individuals to be faithful and grow in Grace;

Church in Cubao Quezon City………6 saved, 1 surrendered to ministry.

Church in Bohol Island……..32 saved during recent evangelism effort

Church in Verona, Italy……..1 saved

  1. Pray for literature distribution ministry to continue bearing fruit.
  2. Pray for Jeffrey and Perla’s health and safety.
  3. Pray for more visitors to the church and for souls to be saved.

The Blusts close their newsletters with these words:  “Because of His faithfulness and abundant mercies………….Let us go forth and sow the seed!

Pray for the Blusts!

Blust Family

The Blusts are veteran missionaries to the people of the Philippines and continue to be steadfast in the work of the Lord there.

Roman catholicism is the predominant religion in the Philippines and comprises about 80% of the population.

In recent prayer letters, Bro. Blust reports that God is working mightily in the church there and that many souls have been saved in recent months.

Since our last report on the Blusts this past March, Bro. Blust reports that about 27 souls came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. One individual who was recently saved is a Filipina Catholic friend living in France named Cherry May Mateo. She says that she confessed and repented of her sins to Jesus Christ and is now submitting her life to Him. She says she will never desire going back to a life leading to Hell.

Brother Blust had been sending her salvation articles and as a result, Cherry May realized her hopeless condition. Please pray for her as she begins her “real” Christian walk.

Praise and Prayer Items:

(1) Pray that many of the people in the church would realize the need for proper food nutrition and purified drinking water. Bro. Blust says that some of the members get sick easily and that many food products are not nutritious and sometimes what comes out of the faucet just isn’t safe to drink.

(2) Pray for the Lord’s direction in finding another location for the church to meet. Bro. Blust says that the 2 lane road in front of their building will become a 4 lane hiway and that they will lose about 1/4 of their building.

(3) Praise that a series of messages on “Bonded Brethren” has brought positive changes in how church members view God, the brethren and other people.
Bro. Blust says that many members are from different regions with different dialects.

(4) Praise for the fact that one of the strengths of the church is the desire to study and practice the Bible. Bro. Blust says that they have an open door policy, if someone refuses to obey God’s Word, they can leave anytime.

(5) Pray those recently saved, that they would remain strong in the faith and grow in Grace. Bro. Blust closes their latest Prayer Letter by saying they rejoice in God’s blessings and that they desire to serve the lord Jesus Christ in the ministry regardless of the obstacles that Satan puts in their way. He also thanks supporting churches for the love and care they have showered them with all these years.
